It allows its holder to buy goods and services based on the holder's promise to pay for these goods and services. The issuer of the card grants a line of credit to the consumer (or the user) from which the user can borrow money for payment to a merchant or as a cash advance to the user. Usage of the term "credit card" to imply a credit card account is a metonym. A credit card is different from a charge card: a charge card requires the balance to be paid in full each month. In contrast, credit cards allow the consumers a continuing balance of debt, subject to interest being charged. Most credit cards are issued by banks or credit unions, and are the shape and size specified by the ISO/IEC 7810 standard as ID-1. I got my credit report today and it shows that my total credit amount is $300 and I have $296 available. After further inspection I noticed that only one credit card had reported a credit limit/max balance and that all of my credit cards hadn't been reported since April. Is there an effective way to contact the credit card companies and get them to report accurate and up to date information to the credit bureaus? Shop for interest rates. Some will give you 0% for a year or longer on balance transfers. Most will have a prime + interest rate, meaning your interest will change only when prime changes. Check the websites of chase, bank of america and citi. They are the biggest ones. It doesnt really matter who as long as you get the best rate. My personal opinion is go with who ever you bank with.
