A. First get your Dun and Bradstreet number https://www.dnb.com/produ ct/ptpsampl.htm#paydexint rprt Remember that the highest Paydex scores are given to companies who pay the bill PRIOR to the invoice being sent. Before the invoice even comes, you already pay

Q. Does anyone have any real knowledge about paydex scores? How does a new business get one? How long does it take to get one? Who provides it? And so on.

A. Dun and Bradstreet handles Paydex and other small business credit products. Their page at describes basic credit issues. More in depth information is at this page A sample credit report is here https://www.dnb.com/produ ct/ptpsampl.htm# that includes Paydex scores and explanations. I would call D&B at 800.234.3867 for more details on costs, registering, etc.

Why does a small business have to pay a fee in order to get a credit report built & scored? How to do quicker?
Q. Dun & Bradstreet was paid in March to create a PayDex score and credit file on my 8 year old business. Now that they have the money, they say that the creditors I listed are NOT D&B members, so D&B can not use them as a reference. D&B will not return any money paid to perform the service they were paid to do. As a small business, real estate rehabber/investor/wholesa ler, I need to be able to borrow in the corporate name without any attachment to my personal credit. Other companies I contacted for business credit building want money also. How can I be sure that a credit report will be built for my company, without personal attachment, IF I pay another fee to another company? I really just need a few hundred thousand dollars to start...maybe [cont.]

I'm looking for a place to get a unsecured business line of credits. Or companies that will give trade lines
Q. I have a small business and need to establish a paydex score, I'm looking for some companies that will provide either trade line or unsecured lines. There are companies that are charging fees to help find companies, but I was hoping to find some help here.

A. The suppliers with whom you have been dealing should be your first approach. If you have been buying from vendors in the past and paying by check or credit card, and established yourself as a steady customer who pays reliably, you can now ask those vendors to set you up as a trade account. They may set a limit on the amount you can charge in any month, and of course you still have to pay your account regularly and on time. Suppliers don't want to lose a good customer, and once they know you, they should be willing to deal with you on the usual terms they extend to other customers. Trade accounts are free credit and you should take advantage of them.

Does anyone know how long once you file for a corporation!
Q. we were advised to file for a corporation for a business. Can someone really advise once the corporation is completed how long can you apply for a loan . I was advised two years and then i hear about credit companies that can establish credit lines etc. Once you establish the credit lines under paydex, dunn etc how soon can you realistically apply for a loan under the corporation. If the corporation is new would the personal assets be reviewed for the loan?? My credit score is low as noted 600, We are trying to clean up the credit as we speak and perhaps it may move to 620. Filing as a corporation how are you able to get a reasonable loan if you are a recent corporation with business credit. ( Did i mention i was told after buying vendor… [cont.]

A. It depends on the policy of the individual lender or vendor. In general no one is willing to make substantial loans to a new corporation unless the officers/investors sign as guarantors of the loan. As far as vendors are concerned you have to either pay cash or shop around and try to find someone willing to take a chance on your corporation. Things are tougher now than in the recent past because most lenders and vendors are being extra cautious due to fears of recession. I suggest that you walk into the bank with a positive attitude. Ask how much they will lend you on a short term basis. Borrow that amount and pay it back -- early. Go back in and borrow a larger sum (they will stretch each time you do this) and pay it back early. … [cont.]

Business Credit?
Q. Maybe someone can help me on this: I have an established business (2 year old corporation) with a paydex score of 80, my personal credit is horrible, so every time I apply for business credit I get denied, whats up with that??? We have credit cards with several well known store like: Home Depot Staples Officemax Store like that, all with perfect payment history, and like I said our PAYDEX is an 80 which is perfect. Those stores do not check personal credit. I just can not get any regular credit.

A. Has your business got a credit score? If not, the lenders will require you to accept personal responsibility for the debt. If your score is low, they won't lend to either you or your business. Try to establish credit with a gas credit card. They are usually easy to get in a business name. Then work to improve your own credit.

Q. I just started my first business and now I need some money. How can I get a loan for product, advertising, etc... but with no personal guarantee? I want to raise my paydex score and not have it affecting my personal credit that is already not good.
